Data Deletion Policy
At Research Bunny, we respect your privacy and are committed to complying with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This Data Deletion Policy outlines how you can request the deletion of your personal data and what steps we take to ensure that your information is securely and permanently removed from our systems.
1. Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten")
Under the GDPR, you have the right to request the deletion of your personal data if:
- The data is no longer necessary for the purpose it was collected or processed.
- You withdraw your consent on which the processing is based, and there is no other legal ground for the processing.
- You object to the processing of your data, and there are no overriding legitimate grounds for continuing the processing.
- The personal data has been unlawfully processed.
- The personal data must be erased for compliance with a legal obligation.
2. How to Request Data Deletion
You can request the deletion of your personal data by contacting us at [email protected]. Please include the following details in your request:
- Full name
- Email address associated with your Research Bunny account
- Specific data you wish to delete (e.g., entire account, certain pieces of content)
Upon receiving your request, we will verify your identity to ensure that the request is legitimate and that the data belongs to you.
3. Data Deletion Timeline
Once we receive and verify your request, we will take the necessary steps to delete your personal data from our systems. We will:
- Delete your personal data from our active databases within 30 days of the verified request.
- Notify you via email once your data has been deleted.
Please note that, in some cases, deletion may take longer depending on the complexity and volume of the data, but we will keep you informed of the progress.
4. Exceptions to Data Deletion
While we make every effort to comply with your request, there are certain situations where we may not be able to fully delete your data, such as:
- If the data is required for compliance with a legal obligation.
- If the data is required to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
- If there is another overriding legitimate ground for processing the data that outweighs your request for deletion.
In such cases, we will inform you of the specific reasons for retaining the data.
5. Data Retention After Account Deletion
If you request to delete your Research Bunny account, we will:
- Permanently delete or anonymize your personal information from our active user database.
- Retain certain data for a limited period to comply with legal, accounting, or auditing requirements. This data will be securely stored and not used for any other purpose.
6. Third-Party Data Sharing and Deletion
If your data has been shared with third parties through our platform (e.g., payment processors, cloud storage services), we will take reasonable steps to inform them of your deletion request, where applicable. However, please note that we cannot control the deletion policies of third parties. We recommend reviewing their respective privacy and data deletion policies.
7. Data Backup and Archival
Data backups are maintained for the purpose of disaster recovery. In the event of data deletion requests, backups containing personal data may not be immediately deleted. However, they are subject to scheduled overwriting processes, and any data restored from backups will be promptly deleted again.
